To Cute to eat

This little white chocolate sheep was sent in my Easter basket along with some rainbow yarn.  How do you eat something so cute.  The chocolate even has the swirls and tufts of its fiber imprinted into its little body.  My Mother-in-law picked this up at a small speciality chocolate shop in Portland, Oregon.  Thought I would share the cute little fella with you all.

Mysery Lace Project

I am on the finishing end of my Mystery Lace project.  As not to give away all the details, I have piled my knitting up so that the pattern will remain a mystery.  It has been a while sense my last lace project, but it is such a quick knit when you get that oh so thin fiber running through your fingers at lightning speed.  More to come soon!

Saturdays Thunderstorms

This is a small video of what it sounds like outside.  For all you West coast followers, yes...you know what rain looks like.  But the thunder is what is so different from what I am accustom to.  Hope you are all enjoying your Saturday!

Tip of the week

Always check the expiration date on your SPF before heading out to a sunny event.  I sat out at a 13 inning over time college baseball game with expired SPF on.  Now, I am paying for it!  It is so easy to pull last years out of a bathroom drawer and not even think about it.  Please! check your dates.  Hope you all have a great weekend.  (I'm to ashamed to post photos of my arms and legs that are toasted)

Craft Day

I went to write a note today and noticed that my "stock" was getting low.  Here is the first set of cards I threw together today.  Also, I found a bunch of pencils in the dollar been and I glued rhinestones to the top of each one for a small sparkle!  Hope you all are finding some time to be creative this weekend.

Just Knit it

I went to my mail box the other day and inside was 2 new magazines.  (I love magazines!)  I got the Spring Garnet Hill and the Spring Interweave Knits.  Obviously one is a knitting magazine and the other is a clothing magazine.  I found it so astonishing that Iwas drawn to an Alpaca Sweater in G.H for $178.00.  The sweater is so plush and luxurious.  I could never afford it but then again, I just might....

As I was looking through my Interweave Knits magazine, there was a première sweater pattern for the exact sweater in G.H.!  Not only can I make it myself and tell others that I made it, I can pay a fraction of the cost and be on the cutting edge of fashion.

By the way, Knit Picks just came out with a new yarn line, Aloft Mohair.  It is a fraction of the cost of traditional mohair and they have some fabulous colors to choose from.  So the next time you see me, I might be adorned in a fashionable new look.  Then again knowing me, I might just have it on with jeans!

Cookies or Bread?

I was at Big lots today and scored a tub of "Antioxidant Chocolate Blend" at 20% off.  (not bad for $4.00)
It contains whole almonds, sliced almonds, dried cranberry, dried elderberry's and dark chocolate chunks.  YUM!!! Did I mention that it was a full pound tub, great deal.  I am thinking of either eating it by the hand full, baking it into cookies or even possible baking it into bread.  Either way, I will let you know how it turns out.  Hope you all are having a great Sunday afternoon, stay dry.

How Gum Saved the Morning

This morning at around 7 am eastern standard time, I woke to here the sound of the Tornado siren.  The siren is seven short blasts followed by one blast that maintains for one minute long.  What does all this mean you might be asking?  Being a resident director in the largest dorm on campus, that means I have 5 minutes to get all 196 of my residence to the basement of a three story building.  Mind you, no one wakes around a college campus until at least 8 am at the earliest.

Out my door I ran in my sweats with my emergency whistle.  (Even though the siren went off, many of the residence never herd it.)  I run to each of the doors of the residence assistance that live on each hall, with a fist pounding knock, I do my job in getting them up to alert all the girls on the halls.  All while running from hall to hall in the 3 story building, I am still blowing my whistle as loud as I can.

After I have checked all the halls for dwindling students half asleep and aimlessly wandering, I am the last one to the basement.  Now imagine for a moment a basement, in most homes it is one large room underground.  Well in our building it is only two rooms and I have 196 girls to pack in.  Needless to say we all snuggled in and waited for the "all clear" so I could let the girls out.  We waited for almost 20 minutes, then freedom!  Majority of the girls went back to bed.

My one saving grace this morning was GUM.  As I ran out the door to get all the girls up, I grabbed a piece of  gum and popped it in.  Now no one would need to be face to face with a fire breathing dragon wile trying to listen to emergency directions.

We are expecting more thunder and lightening storms as well as some flash flooding in our area today.  What a morning it has been!

Mac & Cheese

So my friend Hilary and I decided to get crazy on Super Bowl Sunday and have some fun.  Fun you ask, we scrubbed her kitchen from top to bottom until it sparkled.  Following that, we painted the walls a orange/yellow color that was perfectly names Mac & Cheese! We took all the knobs off her cabinets and painted them red to match the chandelier and doorway closure that are also the same red color.  Here are the before and after pics.  We had a great time just spending the day together!  (Next, the bedroom!)

A rough week

It's been a rough week for me.  I have been down for the count with a chest cold that has morphed it's self into something more.  I'm on day 4 of not leaving the house, for some that would be wonderful.  however when you can't manage to do anything but lie still, its not so fun.  I am on the mend and am doing everything possible to get better.  The head coach of our baseball team brought some get well flowers for me yesterday and it made my day!  It even had glitter on the flower pedals!

My Auntie Linda passed away this week as well.  I am happy to say that she is in heaven with the Lord and is no longer in any pain.  It has been a real struggle on my Mom as this is the first death in her immediate family.  Linda was her oldest sister who had been struggling with cancer.

All things considered, tomorrow is a new day and I will rejoice and be glad in it.

Baseball at it's Finest

Playing With the Girls

Its Thursday!

We are looking at a very cold afternoon and night.  They are calling for 3-4 inches of snow and cold that should remain over the weekend.  I know the students are going to be really excited if we do not have classes in the morning.

This is a picture that was taken on Christmas Eve.  Sorry I forgot to post it.
